PROJECT SOLSHINE
Project Solshine is about spreading sunshine & BLASTING LIGHT out there into the world where its needed! I was inspired by some amazing individuals I have met during my travels, who exemplify KINDNESS & COMPASSION as leaders in their communities. Project Solshine began simply as a way to help them to keep doing what they are doing! Like Rays of Sunshine they bring LIGHT into the Darkness. We raise money doing community events and from donations by you AMAZING human beings!
INDIA
BODHI TREE EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION - BODHGAYA

In INDIA we work with the Bodhi Tree Educational Foundation, a school in Bihar, Northern India. I met the Director of the school, Dhirendra Sharma in 2018 and was inspired by his relentless passion to educate the children in this impoverished area. The funds pay teachers salaries and fund projects needed to improve the school, its kitchen gardens & simply uplift the lives of these amazing children!

NEPAL
DOLMAS GREENHOUSE - Tibetan Refugee Camp POKHARA
I met Dolma while trekking the Annapurna Trail in 2018 where she was selling jewelry. During the Pandemic, there was a shortage of food in the refugee camp, so Dolma reached out for help in buying seeds so that she could grow vegetables to feed herself & friends in the refugee camp. She began by using empty plastic sacks until we raised funds for a greenhouse. She continues to grow veggies according to the season and I've had the honor of sharing meals prepared with her produce!

DOLMA'S DOGS
Dolma has always cared for many of the stray dogs in the Refugee Camp. Now with your help, we are sending funds to help her buy dog food and take them to a local vet for spaying & neutering.

GHANDRUK EDUCATION FUND
Visiting the village of Ghandruk in 2022, I met a brother & sister who captured my heart with their dancing and infectious smiles. With the guidance of Dil Sapkota, dear friend & owner of Adventure Glacier Treks & Expeditions, we sponsored them to provide funds for clothing and books and in March 2024 we returned to check in with them!

We were also able to sponsor two of our trip Porters for their schooling and college education.

KAULE SCHOOL

For two years Project Solshine funded teachers salaries and provided winter shoes and coats for the 75 students at this remote school in the village of Kaule.

YAK & YETI FUND
This is how our work in Nepal started out, in the kitchen of our trekking guide Arjun, when we made a donation to outfit our team porters with comfy boots, waterproof jackets and warm socks & gloves. It is common on the trails to see porters in flip-flops & sneakers, even when hiking up to the highest peaks in the Himalayas.

During the Pandemic, we were able to assist our friends as Nepal closed their borders to all tourists for almost two years. Dil and his Trekking company Adventure Glacier Treks & Expeditions provides work opportunities for over 50 Guides & Porters and pays for the education for many children from his home village in Ghorka Region. Dil is the most selfless man I have ever met and I am honored to call him a friend and a guide in my life!
